Farrah update
Farrah Fawcett has completed her cancer treatment and is doing well, her publicist said Tuesday.
Farrah wrapped up several weeks of treatment last week after being diagnosed recently with the disease and going through chemotherapy, said publicist Mike Pingel. He wouldn’t disclose the type of cancer Fawcett was treated for, but said her prognosis was good.
Farrah has apparently been over-whelmed by the response from fans and the public alike and released the following thru the Hollywood show Access Hollywood this week:
To My Friends Around The World,

All your cards and letters have meant so much to me during what has been a very difficult time in my life . . .

So many of you wrote that I had inspired you in one way or another over the years. Well, now you have done the same for me. Your words of encouragement have helped keep me strong during these last six weeks. And now that I have completed my treatments, I am happy to say that the hardest part is over. Of course the passage of time will be the most accurate test, but I am starting to feel better and I am looking forward to going back to work after the holidays.

Until then, I wanted to thank you all and wish you and your families a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Love,

Farrah

When asked, during treatment, how sick Farrah was, her best friend (and the director of her reality show “Chasing Farrah’) Craig Nevius said “She was nowhere near death’s door. You wouldn’t know she was sick unless you knew she was sick. You would think she was just fatigued or getting over the flu,” Good to hear, and we wish her continued recovery and good health!

Lee opens up on Farrah and her battle with cancer
Speaking at the premiere for National Lampoons: TV The Movie, Lee said
“I know she’s going to pull through this,”Lee opened up for the first time about Farrah’s battle with cancer. “She’s working very hard and getting through it,” he added. Lee admitted it’s a good thing Farrah has Ryan’s hope. “Ryan’s [O'Neal] a good guy, I wish him well; and he’ll take care of her,” Lee said. Despite their past, Lee sent a poignant message to his former real-life “Angel”: “Just fight the fight and you’ll come out of it okay.” The biggest surpirse for us was when Lee said he was working on a project with Farrah, which has been temporarily been put on hold. He said, "We're going to do a project together in the future, but it's (the cancer treatment) put a little stop to it for now." The following short video is in QuickTime format:

Owen Marshall actor, Arthur Hill, dies
It is with sadness that we learned today that Lee's co-star on the legal drama Owen Marshall passed away last weekend. HollywoodReporter.com had this to say:
"Arthur Hill, a Tony winner who also starred in the TV series "Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law," has died. He was 84.
Hill died Sunday at a Pacific Palisades, Calif., care facility after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, his friend Walter Seltzer said Thursday.
Hill won a Tony Award in 1962 for his performance as George in the original production of Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" He played the embattled character for 15 months on Broadway and an additional three months in London.
In "Owen Marshall," which ran from 1971-74, he starred as an earnest, congenial lawyer who ran a small law office with one younger partner, played by Lee Majors.
Throughout his career, the actor, who was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, in 1922, was most recognizable playing distinguished, affable characters. He moved to the U.K. in 1948 and performed in a variety of stage productions, then moved to New York 10 years later and established himself on Broadway.Hill made his Broadway debut opposite Ruth Gordon in "The Matchmaker" and went on to star in stage hits like "Look Homeward Angel."
Hill balanced stage, film and TV, appearing in such films as "Harper," "Petulia," "The Chairman," "Rabbit, Run," "The Andromeda Strain" and "The Pursuit of Happiness." In "The Killer Elite," he played against type, portraying a villain. More recently, he performed in such films as "A Bridge Too Far," "The Champ," "A Little Romance," "Making Love" and "Something Wicked This Way Comes." His last film roles came in "One Magic Christmas" (1985) and Blake Edwards' "A Fine Mess" (1986).
Hill is survived by his wife, Anne-Sophie Taraba; son Douglas; stepdaughter Daryn Sherman; and two sisters, Pat and Eunice of Winnipeg.
Seltzer said there will be no funeral per Hill's request."

Farrah update......
According to thisislondon.co.uk, Farrah Fawcett needs life-saving surgery due to complications caused by her radiation treatment.
Farrah was rushed to hospital in Los Angeles on October 16 suffering from excessive bleeding and a swollen arm brought on by her radiation treatment for cancer, according to US reports. But Farrah, 59, is so weak from her treatment that doctors are waiting to perform the necessary surgery, the National Enquirer magazine reports.
Farrah needs a hysterectomy after hemorrhaging from a burst uterine tumour, caused by her cancer treatments. Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in September. She has been undergoing radiation, chemotherapy and laser treatment to combat the malignant tumour. Now Farrah's arm has swollen due to a stent implanted near her shoulder that delivers radiation to the tumour. Doctors are worried that a blood clot could cause a heart attack or a stroke. "It's definitely a setback," an insider told the Enquirer. "Farrah's doctors have been forced to take a triage approach to her treatment. "They're dealing with the most serious conditions first, in addition to trying to eradicate the cancer." As usual our thoughts are with her.

NBC to 'revive' The Bionic Woman
David Eick, executive prodcuer on the re-imagined Sci-Fi channel's Battlestar Galactica, and screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis will executive produce a new take on "The Bionic Woman" a 1970s spinoff of "The Six Million Dollar Man" in which Lindsay Wagner played tennis pro-turned-superwom an Jamie Sommers. The series aired for two seasons on ABC before shifting to NBC in 1977 for its final year. "It's a complete reconceptualization of the title," Eick told the trade. "We're using the title as a starting point, and that's all."
NBC Universal Television Studio is producing the new take, which has been given a script commitment by the network. Instead of focusing on terrorism and militarism, the new "Bionic" will explore the role of professional women in contemporary society and how they
juggle their various roles. "It's using the idea of artificial technology as a metaphor for what contemporary women sometimes feel is necessary to do everything that needs to be done," Eick said.
Fan reaction to the news is less than stella and people are wondering how 'thrilling' a series about an lawyer or advertising executive can possibly be. Read a longer feature here.

Lee speaks at EKU graduations
YKYT had this to sayabout Lee's appearance at the EKU graduations at the weekend:
It's the day nearly 1,700 students at Eastern Kentucky University have worked so hard for, and graduation day was made extra special with one of their most famous alums coming back home to send them off with a special message.

Kentucky native and actor Lee Majors has been in numerous movies and T.V. shows, but is best known for his role as the bionic man in the popular 70s show "The Six Million Dollar Man."

An E.K.U. alum himself, today he spoke at the university's graduation, saying he hopes the graduates take his advice to heart. "Don't give up. Even if you knock on some doors and they don't answer, there's a better one down the road. Just persevere. You know, life is not easy."

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell spoke at Saturday morning's ceremony. Both he and Majors received honorary degrees from the university.

SMDM footage test-pilot dies
Former NASA test pilot Bruce Peterson, whose 1967 M2-F2 crash appeared in opening credits of the TV show Six Million Dollar Man, has died.
Peterson -- who often complained he disliked seeing his accident repeatedly replayed on the popular TV show -- died in Laguna Niguel, Calif., Monday at the age of 72 following a long illness.
Peterson joined NASA in 1960 and flew a variety of experimental and established aircraft during his 21-year career, the Orange County (Calif.) Register reported. His test flights included such aircraft as the B-52, F-111A, F-100, as well as aircraft that contributed to the development of the space shuttle.
NASA said the crash of the M2-F2 wingless aircraft followed a violent roll that Peterson was unable to control. The aircraft struck the Mojave lake bed at 250 mph. Peterson lost sight in one eye as a result of the accident.
Peterson left NASA in 1981 and worked for the Northrop Corp. until he retired.

Lee does the Oscars
A couple of anecdotes/stories have shown up over the past couple of days about Lee at Monday night's Oscars ceremony. Here they are...
From Yahoo's 'The Academy Awards Show you never saw':

Hey, it's Steve Austin
What you saw: Big-star presenters Will Smith, Will Ferrell and Steve Carell posing on the red carpet.
What you didn't see: Not-so-big stars Gary Busey, Lorenzo Lamas and Lee Majors milling about. Majors, the former Six Million Dollar Man, says: "I am an academy member and my wife, Faith, had never been here and she wanted to come."

From Zap2it.com article 'Mizrahi behaves, Rivers does not on red carpet:
She [Joan Rivers] has a minor hissy fit when "The Constant Gardener" nominee Rachel Weisz is pulled away by her publicist, whom Joan calls stupid and ugly. She recoups nicely though, when she mistakenly addresses Lee Majors as Larry McMurtry. She blames the people behind the scenes for the misinformation and grouses, "Thank you for making me looking like an ass."

Eueka! says Lee...

The show is about U.S. Marshall Jack Carter, played by Ferguson, who gets stranded in the strange town of Eureka while transporting a fugitive. He is hired on as the town's new “sheriff” when he discovers its inhabitants are really a secret community of super geniuses doing scientific research for the government. With his ex-Special Forces “deputy,” Carter is there to make sure the residents don't get out of hand and clean up the mess when they do. Ferguson describes his character as “a Job, where everything goes wrong, but he gets the job done anyway.” Sounds intruiging. The shows has been given the green light for an intial 13 episodes and will air sometime this summer. Stay tuned for more updates.

'Ocean features on Animal Planet
“Animal Planet at the Movies: On the set of ‘When I Find the Ocean’” debuted in the UK on December 31. Whilst the programme didn't feature any scenes with Lee, it gave a nice insight into the human and animal stars of the movie:
Animal Planet, a subsidiary of the world-renowned Discovery Channel, was on the set of the full length feature film “When I Find the Ocean” in May to film an entire week of footage. The film stars a black leopard, a golden retriever and a rabbit.
According to the Animal Planet website, www.animalplanet.co.uk, “A leopard has a starring role in this movie set in 1965 Alabama. 11-year-old Lily runs away from a troubled home with her pet dog and rabbit to fulfill her life-long dream to see the ocean. Viewers follow the leopard's journey, from his training ground back at the ranch to his movie debut on location.”
Tonya S. Holly, the film’s writer/director/producer, was honored when she was originally notified of Animal Planet’s intention to highlight her film “Having the film crew from Animal Planet at the Movies on set for a week was simply phrasing it amazing.” “I loved working with the animals on the film especially Damien the black cat,” said Holly.

“When I Find the Ocean” is a full length feature film shot in Alabama and Tennessee. Set in 1965, the film follows the dream of a little girl (Lily Matland Holly) and her adventure to find the ocean. The film also stars Lee Majors, Diane Ladd, Graham Greene, Bernie Casey, Richard Tyson, Amy Redford, David “Shark” Fralick, Steve Viall, Pace Stoddard and George Lindsey.

The Regional Premiere of “When I Find the Ocean” will be on March 4, 2006 and will be the closing gala for the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival.

Lee hits Lightspeed - the latest from SciFi Wire....
Comic-book creator Stan Lee told SCI FI Wire that he is speeding up progress on his new superhero creation LightSpeed for the SCI FI Channel. "I decided to do something for the SCI FI Channel to put them on the map," Lee said, with tongue in cheek. "I will be working on a few movies for them, but it looks like LightSpeed will be the first."

Lee, who co-created some of Marvel Comics' most iconic superheroes, came up with the story for the TV movie. LightSpeed stars Jason Connery as Daniel Leight, a government agent who discovers he has super powers after his legs are crushed in a building collapse and he is exposed to a near-lethal dose of radiation. Leight continues to pursue his nemesis, Python, but with the ability to run at the speed of light. (Connery, the son of Sean Connery, also recently completed a UFO thriller movie called Night Skies, which is based on true events and is scheduled for a late October 2006 release.)

Lee Majors, Daniel Goddard and Nicole Eggert also star in Stan Lee's LightSpeed, which is directed by Don Fauntleroy. "I didn't have a sense of the cast or the directors for any of the shows, and they don't ask me for them until the last minute," Lee said. "But I have seen some of the dailies of this guy, and he looks great. I like him. We also have a great villain called Python, and I can't wait to see it. ... He looks like the kind of villain [that Lee's longtime Marvel illustrator] Jack Kirby could easily have come up with. [LightSpeed is] an average-looking guy who faces extraordinary circumstances."

Bionic DVDs go all French
The Bionic first season boxsets have been lined up for a release in France, with a French dub, on March 22nd. No details yet if the packing/covers will remain the same.

Happy Birthday Jaime!
The Bionic Woman is officially 30 years old this month! It was 30 years ago last week that "Welcome Home, Jaime Pt 1 aired on ABC here in the states which marked the beginning of the Bionic Woman series. Hands up anyone who was there when the show first aired all those years ago? It is a testament to the quality of the writing, the production and the acting/casting that the show is still around in pop culture today and so fondly remembered.

The worst review ever?
This review of Lee's 70's flick The Norseman appeared on www.boxofficeprophets.com when the movie aired on the 5th of this month. This tickled us, so we just had to share it:
9:55am Showtime Extreme
The Norseman (1978 USA): Admirers of truly dreadful cinema, pay close attention. Did you know it took FIVE men to edit this film? I don't think I've ever seen any other film with more than two, possibly three, credited editors. It's not surprising, though, considering the material director Charles B. Pierce handed them. Take a wooden Lee Majors as the Six Million Dollar Norseman. Add in an asinine plot about a Viking vs. Native American war. Thicken and stir with a producer's son with the acting ability of a lamppost in a vanity role as a young Viking, and sprinkle with Deacon Jones playing a black (yes, of African extract) Viking who got picked up on an earlier longboat jaunt. The result is surely one of the ten worst films ever to get a theatrical release, and that is no easy accomplishment. Your jaw will hang open in horror for the full 97-minute running time.
